Baby Shower
Two of my Sisters-in-law, Angela and Amber, threw me a baby shower on June 5, 2010. It was so strange to be the recipient of the shower, as I am usually the planner and giver. I am so grateful to everyone who came and "showered" me with love and gifts for the Baby. Thank you so much!

There is nothing like watching a bunch of grown women smelling diapers for the Dirty Diaper game. Candy bars are melted inside diapers and everyone tries to "Guess the Poo." It makes me laugh so hard!!

Something Everyone Needs to See
My friend, Tara, had this on her blog. It so touched my heart that I thought everyone needed to hear the message. Motherhood is an eternal partnership with God. Something that is insurmountable to nothing else. My heart was deeply touched by the spirit and I hope yours is too.

Letter to a Little One
Dearest Little One,
This has been a post I have been conjuring up in my mind for quite sometime, but I haven't felt I could post it until now. We are only a few short weeks from welcoming you into this world and I think there are a few things you should know.
First of all, Mommy and Daddy have waited a long time for you to come. We have hoped and prayed and fasted that you would get here. About two years ago, Mommy was very sad that she couldn't have babies and my heart was so very heavy. Your Grandpa-great gave me a Priesthood Blessing and in that Blessing I was promised that I would be a mother in Zion. I was promised that I would have many children come into my home. I felt the spirit so strongly and I knew that the words he spoke that day did not come from him, but our Heavenly Father. Daddy received a very similar blessing from your grandfather, your name sake, that very same day, where he was promised he would be a father in Zion. You are such a loved, long awaited for baby. Your daddy chose a second middle especially for you, Espirido, which in Portuguese means "Long Awaited One." You are long awaited and so very loved!
Feeling you move inside of me is an experience I never thought I would have. Tears are often brought to my eyes to think I have been blessed to be your Mommy. I am not sure I deserve such a responsibility, but I need you to know I will do the very best job that I can to raise you up in the Gospel and to teach you to be a loving, caring, strong man. I have dreamed many dreams about you and I know you are a special spirit son of our Heavenly Father. I know you will encounter many hardships in your life and I want you to know as your Mother, you can turn to a Heavenly Father who loves you! I love our Heavenly Father very much and I lean on him heavily to help me along every single day.
Your first name is Steven. This is such a strong name little one. It is a name you deserve! It belongs to your Grandpa Anderson who is such a strong, gentle, kind and gracious man. He gave his name to your Daddy, who is so much like your Grandpa in every way. They are both huge inspirations in my life, and I hope you learn to look up to them as well. Trust in them. Lean on them. We hope and pray you will be a strong, kind, gentle and gracious man.
Your Mommy and Daddy love each other very much! We searched long and hard for each other and we strive everyday to share that love together. We try to make every minute count. We are so grateful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ in our lives and we know it is the true Church upon the earth today. You will be raised to know what is right and wrong and then you will have the opportunity to make your own choices and mistakes. Please know, we are here to hold your hand and help you along every step of the way.
Little one, we anticipate your arrival. We will be the best parents that we can be, but please forgive us. We are mortal humans and we will make mistakes. We love deeply, sincerely. We have prayed many years for you to come and now that it is so close, it seems so surreal. We love you Little One! Safe journey....
With love,
Your Mommy

Getting ready for Baby
Psst...there is another posting below this one. Make sure to check it out too!
We have been anticipating the arrival of Baby Steven. It seems so bizarre to think we have been waiting for five years for this time in our lives and here it is. We are exactly 9 weeks away today from our due date. I am secretly hoping to go a week late, however, so I can finish up my classes at school. Here is hoping!
Matt finally got the crib put together last night and our nursery is getting painted. We decided to do a jungle type of theme so my amazing mother-in-law is painting a mural on the wall. I am so excited!
The Yard Sale Crib I bought last year. Little did I know I would get to use it so soon.
Mother-in-Law beginning the mural. She just had major neck surgery a few weeks ago so it will be a work in progress, but I am so grateful for her desire and willingness to do this huge task. She looks at a variety of different pictures, picks out body types and faces and then just sketches them on the wall. What talent!
Showing Matt what colors to paint the tree she has sketched on the wall.
The beginning phase of baby elephant.
The beginning phase of our big jungle tree. I asked Matt to turn around and smile and this is the smile I caught. I can imagine our son making this same little face when he has done something mischievous.
What a sweet guy! He wants so badly to take care of our little family and I love him dearly for that. I can't explain the emotion when I see him feel Steven kick. My heart swells and my eyes water just writing about it. He is so anticipating being a dad. He promises he will get up for late night/early morning feedings and change dirty diapers. I have seen him with our nieces and nephew and I know he will be a good, patient dad.

My Month of May Posting
May has been such a crazy month! Of course, it seems as if they are all crazy right now. Preparing for baby to arrive, there is so much to do. I am still working full time and I am hoping and praying I can work right up until the day Steven decides to make his grand entrance into the world! Matt is still looking for a job and we pray and have faith that will happen so I can stay home with the babe. If not, I am very lucky I have a great job that I love. Here are a few pictures of our month in review:
Wally got in a tuff with a chow from around the corner. He now can join Doogie in the "Paycheck Dog Club." So much for trying to save our tax return. When we originally took Wally in, they gave him antibiotics and some pain meds for his cheek. One of the bite marks went all the way through his cheek and gums. Poor guy...He had to go back in a week later because his cheek was so swollen and pussy. A drain was inserted for a week and he had to wear what Matt calls, "The Cone of Shame." I felt like such an awful Mommy as he would just sit and put his head on me with those huge puppy dog eyes.
Our boys, for the most part, get along now. We have even caught a few glances (and still fewer pictures) of them cuddling up together. We are just so glad they get along!

Mother's Day was amazing! I have cried my way through many Mother's Days. Matt got me a card from him and one from the "boys." And to be honest, I am almost certain they went with him when he bought it. :) He also bought me this beautiful corsage from the YW fund raiser. How sweet and thoughtful is he?!
This is me with The Boys on Mother's Day. I imagine they are arguing with each other in their heads, "Mom, don't make us pose for a picture together!" Baby Steven is in the picture too!
