Our amazing neighbor next door has a 5 year old son and a 7 year old daughter, so they were way too old and big for their trike. Our neighbor just gave us their old trike when I was telling her I was trying to save up some money to buy Steven one. It has taken him a bit of time, but he is now a pro at riding it. I am so proud of him. Here are a couple of his first attempts.

Gone Too Soon
On July 17, a family in our ward lost their sweet little 2 yr old boy to an accidental, tragic shooting incident. My heart broke, and is still breaking, for the family for the loss of their little boy. When I heard about it, I was so busy with family in town I guess I didn't really think much about it, but upon telling Matt, the full impact of what I said hit me. My son is only 8 months younger than he was and now his parents are left with a huge hole in their lives. Matt was scheduled to go down to his parents home that evening to help give a blessing, but he came home first. My big husband rushed through the door and picked up our son. He hugged him and kissed him...I saw a tear stream down his face. They played basketball together and I took a mental picture of the two of them enjoying time together.
Matt went down to Parker, but his mom called me after he left to tell me a few things. She said Matt was very teary all evening, as I had previously experienced at home. She relayed that Matt had told her he didn't know what he would do if he lost Steven, and he was worried that if something happened to Steven, he would lose me too. I think that is something I am still processing....
I love Steven whole-heartedly. He is a miracle, an answer to so many years of praying. He is my joy, my light. I thank my Heavenly Father for him several times a day. I cannot get over how much I love him. Sometimes I think my heart is going to burst wide open with the love I feel for him. I ask him several times a day if I can hug him or kiss him. I still rock him to sleep every chance I get. I can't believe I have the opportunity to be his mother. I tear up when I think about the possibility of not having him around. I cringe, I get sick physically and spiritually....I pray I never have to go through that, as I don't feel I am strong enough to make it to the other side. But two things are for certain:
1-I live every single day, trying to embrace every single moment I have with my son. I want him to know in every moment how much I love him, how much his dad loves him, and how much his Heavenly Father and elder brother, Jesus Christ, love him.
2-I am grateful for the Temple and the fact that we get to be together forever. That knowledge has absolutely spoke peace to my heart over the past weeks, in a way I don't think it has before.
Steven, Mommy loves you so much!! Please, don't ever forget that. I am so grateful Heavenly Father has given me the distinct opportunity to be your Mama. I am doing everything I can everyday to live worthy of you. I fall short many times, but I hope you can forgive me. I love you dearly son!

Picnic in the Park
June 10, 2012
I have a lot of catching up to do. Matt asked me the other day if I keep a journal and I told him my blog was my journal and I really need to do a blog book so I can read everything in paper format. So, I am trying to play catch-up...again. :)
We packed a dinner of hamburger helper, strawberries and whipped cream, go-gurt and water (can you tell I really needed to go grocery shopping!!) and headed to a local park for a fun Sunday evening dinner. Steven was being incredibly amazing and silly that night. He always makes us laugh and cracks us up. In true almost 2 year old fashion, he didn't eat hardly anything, but still had the energy to run around everywhere. We absolutely love spending time together as a family and none of us feel like we get enough of it! Here are some fun pictures of our time together.

A Blessed Morning
I have a lot of catching up to do (don't I always?) but I could not let this morning pass without writing about how absolutely amazing it was!
Emmett came over and Steven finally let me dress him and feed him. After feeding and dressing the troops (and of course changing a poopy diaper) we headed outside. It only took a matter of moments before Emmett was sopping wet. We decided to go across the lawn at play at the neighbor's house since they are out of town and we are watching their dog during the day. The boys were angels. No, they were better than angels. They were perfect. Steven shared...yes, you heard me correct, he shared with Emmett. They took turns who was sitting in the driver's seat of the firetruck. They swung on the swing together and when Emmett was a big scared, Steven held his hand and put his arm around him. They ate a Popsicle. They laughed at each other.
On the way in the house, we all got sidetracked by the pool. I stripped Emmett down first and put him in the newly filled pool. Steven said he wanted to go in and I was totally flabbergasted that he wanted all of his clothes off too. They boys were such a delight. They laughed and splashed each other and got Wally wet. I held an umbrella and got my fair share of wet as well. We were all just enjoying ourselves to the biggest extent possible.
We came in. Got clean, dry clothes on. Had a snack of banana bread and strawberries while the noodles cooked. The boys even shared their strawberries! Everyone ate lunch with little trouble (ya know, just the occasional noodle throw) and both boys went down with very little fight. I am so grateful to a loving Heavenly Father who knew I needed today. He knew I needed a lot of help and he blessed me so greatly! I do not take credit for a single moment of my amazing morning with my amazing children. It was the hand of the Lord guiding it all. I can only hope this amazing day continues on after nap time. Which means, while the little ones are asleep, I should be cleaning up. :)

Turning 29...again....
Wow.
For some reason, I have dreaded turning 30 for quite sometime. Now that it is only a week away, I am really struggling. I am not sure why, but I have been! I made the comment to a friend the other day, "I am turning 30 and I haven't done anythings with me life!" He looked at my son and said, "Steven, I guess you are nothing." I stopped dead. in. my. tracks.
My son is absolutely my biggest accomplishment. He is my life. My world. My everything. I am ever so grateful to be his Mama and I try not to take a second of that for granted.
But it also got me thinking, "What else have I accomplished in my 30 years on this earth? So, I decided to sit down and compile a list, because maybe it will help me feel better about things.
In my 30 years I have:
-Survived Jr. High! (quite the accomplishment! I thought I would share a funny memory of Jr. High. I had a HUGE crush on a guy named Eric Jones (man, I pray he doesn't read this!) He sat in front of me in one of my classes. We were in the last row, so every Friday we had to bring in a piece of news that was happening locally, in the state or nationally. I knew Eric always forgot, so I always brought an extra piece of news for him to read and talk about. Man, I was whipped bad! But it got him talking to me!
-Played several differant instruments including the piano, saxophone and tuba.
-I was the drum major my Senior Year in High School. (I was also thinking about this a lot the other day. I struggled with depression a lot in my years and I was hospitalized for a week my junior year. I was voted the drum major my senior year. I feel very surprised that even after knowing what people knew about me, the trusted me enough to vote me in. How grateful I am for that experience!)
-I graduated college and was accepted to BYU-Idaho for the fall 2000 semester. I got a (very small) music scholarship. I was told I had a lot of potential. I am so grateful for those teachers seeing something in me that I couldn't see in myself. I LOVED college. I had enough old friends around me to make me feel comfortable, but I had enough new people around me that I could really find myself, discover myself for who I am. I was the band president. I really, REALLY LOVED band. I lived at the music building, and I really needed that socialization back then. Band was life!
-I went to and graduated from massage school.
-I have been a teacher for nearly 8 years. I really love teaching others a trade, a passion. It has been so rewarding watching students grow and develop a life skill.

-I married Steven Matthew Anderson in the temple, for time and all eternity in September 2004. He has been a rock. As much as I have fought him, bothered him, butted heads with him, he has been a trooper. He loves me despite all of my imperfections and he always tells me how wonderful I am. Someday, I may even believe him!
Whipped Cream and a sweet Story
My Bug loves strawberries and whipped cream. He was really hamming it up on this day too! I love this little guy and the joy he brings to my life. Recently, he has wanted the same truck book read to him every nap and bed time. If I try to trick him by reading another book, he always says, "Book" and I know exactly what he means. But in the last week, he has allowed me to read, "Love You Forever" afterwards to him. It has really been a special bonding time for the two of us. He seems to know, seems to understand the words so crystal clear. He hugs me extra hard and extra long. My sweet son is so close to the spirit. I am grateful, beyond words, to be his mommy!!
Memorial Day
A few weeks ago, Nana bought Steven a box of trains at a yard sale. They are the really nice metal Thomas the Tank Engine trains. The child is in love! Prior, it was trucks and tractors all. of. the. time. Now, his life is trains. In fact, he came out of his bedroom the other morning and instead of uttering his usual, "Mama" he looked straight at me and said, "Thomas?" So, Matt and I decided to take Memorial Day and ride the "train" downtown. We would check out where he works at the University and then walk down to 16th St Mall where you could ride a bus up and down the street. Steven ended up having a blast!
