Mommy's Little Hero

This is my favorite onsie of Steven's. It has a firetruck on it that says, "Mommy's Little Hero." And isn't it the truth?! Steven is my hero. In many ways, he saved me. He is the light of my life and I am so eternally grateful for him! Being a mom is the best thing I have ever done. He makes me laugh and he makes me a better person. I only hope that I can be worthy enough to be with him forever!

One of my favorite things to do is come home and say to him, "Fe, Fi, Fo Fum I smell the blood of my first-born son!" He grins from ear to ear when he hears me say this. If I don't come and pick him up IMMEDIATELY he comes unglued. I LOVE him SO MUCH!

A Dad and His Boy

Matt is such a fabulous Daddy! Steven adores him. If Steven is nursing and he hears Matt come into the room, Steven stops to look and smile at Matt. He usually will not resume eating until Matt comes over to acknowledge him. I absolutely adore this about them. I look forward to watching them play football and catch and talking about girls and numerous other things as Steven gets older. I love my boys!

6 Months

I cannot believe tiny baby has been here for an entire six months! Where does the time go? It seems like only yesterday I was driving to the hospital to deliver him. I treasure and relish in every moment that I can with him. He had his six month check up and growing quite nicely.
19lbs 6 oz-82 percentile
28.3/4 inches long-97 percentile

He is my long skinny boy! He did so well, absolutely giggling and laughing at the doctor and anyone who would take a moment to acknowledge him. He is hitting all of his milestones and everyone (especially me!!) is so proud of the progress he is making. Of course, he got his six month shots :( and he did fantastically! 5 SHOTS!!! It should be a crime! He was flirting with the nurse and laying it on thick and then she hit him with the first needle. She is so fast and it too him about 2 shots before he realized that it hurt but when he did finally realize it, OH MAN! Crocodile tears and all! Oh, and that lip! It is just too much. I have an evil shot plan though....I have Matt hold him and the second the nurse is all done, I scoop him up and hold him and love on him. It seems to work, and then he doesn't associate me with those awful sharp things. Here are some of the fun things he has learned this last month:

He is learning how to clap. It is so stinkin' cute! I absolutely love it and he is so proud of himself and claps at himself regularly. Wouldn't it be great if we kept this part about us? To be completely proud of yourself at every little accomplishment that you HAVE to give yourself a clap or a pat on the back?

When we call to Wally, we pat our leg and call his name. Steven has picked up on this. He will pat his leg and look at Wally and occasionally, add a little grunt. But he uses the pat on the leg thing for more things than just Wally. Oh, what a sweet boy! Speaking of Wally, he and Steven are the best of friends! Wally is so patient and so kind and so gentle with our boy. He will often lay down in front of Steven and let him pet him and pull on his ears. Steven is absolutely fascinated with Wally's dog tags and jingles them every chance he gets. Steven loves to watch Wally chase the laser light and giggles and giggles at him. We can always count on Wally to help make our boy laugh. One morning Steven started making his morning grunts to tell us he was ready to please get out of his crib. I was in the process of getting up and I told Wally to go check on his boy. I poked my head out the door just in time to see Wally run into the nursery and stick his nose between the slats in Steven's crib. I have already had visions into the future and we are in for it! The two of them together are going to be trouble!

Eating solids like a champ! He LOVES pineapple, but still does NOT prefer peaches. There are a few things we try that he doesn't seem to prefer, but for the most part, he is an eating champ. If you don't get the bite to his face fast enough, he starts grunting and complaining quite loudly. We are working on trying to feed himself small foods like pieces of banana or puffs. He is almost getting the hang of it. Maybe another couple of months on this milestone. (Mommy is really okay with this one! It makes for fewer messes to clean up!) He loves peanut butter sandwich in very small bites. One of our little secrets is we like to put a tiny bit of frosting on mommy's finger and have a little treat. Hes favorite part of that is putting his finger in the frosting container and let mommy lick the frosting off of his finger, too. He thinks it is a riot!

Sleeping....most nights he does such a fabulous job, but every so often, he will wake up with what mommy believes is a sad dream, or maybe just missing his mommy. I go in, pick up his sweet body and rock him back to sleep. I will admit, I still love sleeping with the little guy on my chest, or holding him in my arms, but it happens so rarely now except for the occasional nap together because he is such a good sleeper. It is rarely I have to nurse him to go back to sleep.

I am such a proud Mommy! I absolutely love and adore my little guy! I didn't know being a mother was so thrilling, so exciting, so amazing. Every moment is like finding a piece of gold. He is my angel. I often wonder what I EVER did without him. I hope I never have to wonder about how that will feel. I LOVE YOU STEVEN!! HAPPY 6 MONTHS BABY!!!

Thanksgiving 2010

I realize I have not done much posting lately and believe me, I am pulling my hair out for it! But all I can do it make it a new goal in this new year to blog (journal) more. I have a baby book that I fill out regularly for Steven as well as a journal for him I try to write in more regularly, so I am not completely not keeping track of things. I am up every night for an hour pumping milk for Steven, but it is very hard to type and pump, but I need to be better so I will figure that part out! :) In the meantime, there will be several posts to try to catch everything up, for my own benefit anyway

Thanksgiving
we went down tot Matt's parent home for the occasion. My mother-in-law wasn't there, however, as she was in Utah for the birth of our new niece, Taylor. She is a cutie and we can't wait to meet her! Boy, we had a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving for sure! Most of all, we have our little tiny baby boy here. He is my light and I am eternally grateful for him. I never miss a prayer where I don't thank our Heavenly Father for sending him to our family. Steven is so kind, so gentle, so cuddly. I LOVE him dearly! Here are a few pictures from our day.

His onsie cracks me up; it says, "Daddy loves me more than football." Daddy says that is true. :)
